Doodle changes a'coming by emma sidoriak

I have some exciting, but possibly bittersweet news to share…

EXCITING NEWS FIRST.

New products are available starting today on my website! Click on the links to check them out:

In 2021, I will be focusing on customized doodle AND customized embroidery gifts for you to offer your friends and family! The bitter part is that I am discontinuing the calendar for 2021 to make more resources available to work with you one-on-one and to focus on meeting your special requests. Please stay tuned throughout the year as I introduce new ideas for gifts, hopefully to inspire your next doodle or more. Thank you for all of the love and support of my calendar throughout these past years!

Emma

20/20 DOODLE Updates by emma sidoriak

Hi all!

I don’t know about you, but I am LOVING this fall season. Crisp air paired with a nice hot coffee/tea/cider. Already checked out a pumpkin patch and watched Elf and The Grinch…(couldn’t help it, I know I’m crazy).

Anyway, I cannot WAIT to share the 20/20 Doodle calendar with all of you! I’ve been spending many hours hanging out in Portland, listening to The Office in the background and doodling out some kooky and fun days for next year. The calendar will feature:

  • a record number of amazing guest artists (some with single-digit ages);

  • doodles inspired by your photography;

  • references to some of your favorite books and songs (remember those Facebook posts??);

  • and something else that has never been done before! Are you ready for this?!

In addition to the calendar, I’ve been working on some custom artwork…wedding doodles! If you’re interested, please reach out to me. Check out a few that I’ve done below. Thank you for keeping me so busy doing what I love. Be sure to pre-order your calendars, and stay tuned for more updates!

Your Doodler,

Emma

A Doodle A Day by emma sidoriak

What is it?

A Doodle a Day is a calendar of doodles (illustrated by yours truly) for each weekday and weekend, adding up to 6 doodles per week. Doodles include song lyrics, quotes from celebrities and non-celebrities, punny sayings, movie lines, spiritual text, unusual holidays and historical tidbits. The purpose: to give the viewer’s day a little oomph of inspiration. Despite the willy-nilly connotation of the word “doodle,” these doodles have a lot of thought put into them. They are meant to make people think, laugh and get motivated. My hope is that the doodles transcend genders and generations and are special and applicable to many.

Some Doodles To Date

Russian Christmas, 1/7/15 (top left); Dad's Birthday Weekend--he does work in the air & space industry, 2/21-22/15 (top right); First Round of March Madness, 3/18/15 (bottom left); April Fool's Day, 4/1/15 (bottom right).

how it all started

NOVEMBER 2013. Thanksgiving Break. I drew my mom’s name out of a coffee mug for our annual family Pollyanna. Then I went back to school and totally forgot about it.

DECEMBER 2013. Christmas Break. My brain was fried, and I finally had some free time on my hands. Alright, what to make Mom for our Pollyanna this year? With lots of time, but not much money, I went to the craft store. I chose two cute little sketchbooks and some drawing markers and decided to make her a daily calendar of doodles, not realizing that I would dedicate the rest of that week in my room drawing.

2014. My mom called her calendar ‘the gift that kept on giving’ even as I was away at college. Every once in awhile, she would post the doodle of the day on her Facebook page and would receive a decent amount of positive feedback from her friends and clients.

NOVEMBER 2014. I thought, ah, what the heck? I feel like drawing…a calendar of doodles—take two. This time, I decided I would give one out to each of my family members and my good friends. With a little more time to plan, I gathered up all of their birthdays, quotes and lyrics from inspirational idols, quirky holidays and notable moments in history and chipped away at the year of 2015.

DECEMBER 2014. After over a month of hardcore doodling, I digitalized my illustrations and sent them out to a printer. I got calendars printed for gifts and for sale, just to see if I could make a few extra bucks. The first batch quickly sold out; I even ended up selling the ones I ordered as gifts and had to get more printed.

2015. I sold the rest of my calendars and have already begun thinking about new doodles and ways to keep 'A Doodle A Day' active and fun throughout the year. And it now has its own Facebook page

Ireland Getaway by emma sidoriak

After graduation, my friend/college roommate Emily and I decided to treat ourselves to a trip to Ireland. We went in November during the off-season, and it was one of the best weeks of our lives. It was also our first time either of us had been to Europe. In preparation, I taught Emily how to drive stick-shift, and in no time, we were tottering through the narrow streets of Ireland (on the left side of the road!). We hiked cliffs, toured towns, tried the bread pudding (both black and white) and spent a full day with new friends at a pub in the countryside. We didn't want to come home. The following video and photo gallery summarizes our trip. Cheers!
